Electricity output by primary energy source

Operated and contracted electricity generation volumes decreased year on year, driven by a decrease in generation at AGL Loy Yang due to the planned Unit 4 major outage and unplanned minor outages at Bayswater Power Station in the second half of the year. This was partly offset by higher gas generation in South Australia, primarily driven by AEMO-directed running of Torrens Island Power Station and higher generation during periods of volatility in July 2024, August 2024 and June 2025, alongside higher generation from wind and hydroelectric power stations in the second half of the year. Additionally, the introduction of the Rye Park Wind Farm PPA commencing in April 2025 contributed to the increase in wind generation.

Operated electricity generation volumes from wind and solar decreased due to the contract changes with Tilt Renewables at the Broken Hill and Nyngan solar plants, as well as the Silverton and Coopers Gap wind farms at the end of FY24.

Notes

Data relates to the sent-out electricity generation from assets over which AGL has operational control regardless of who owns the asset. Assets where AGL controls or has rights to the electricity output only are not included.

In addition to the electricity output shown, in FY25, AGL produced 148 TJ of heat energy (as steam) from AGL's operated natural gas cogeneration facilities. This comprised steam produced at AGL Torrens and sold to Air Liquide.

In FY24, AGL and Tilt Renewables agreed to terminate agreements pursuant to which AGL provided asset management and agency and dispatch services in respect of certain assets owned by Tilt Renewables, namely the Nyngan Solar Plant, Broken Hill Solar Plant, Coopers Gap Wind Farm and Silverton Wind Farm. As a result, from June 2024 (for Nyngan Solar Plant, Coopers Gap Wind Farm and Silverton Wind Farm) and July 2024 (for Broken Hill Solar Plant), Tilt Renewables is responsible for operations and maintenance for each facility, while AGL continues to have offtake agreements in respect of these assets.

Output is rounded to the nearest GWh.
