Fugitive emissions
Fugitive emissions from brown coal mining decreased in FY25 due to decreased coal production. Fugitive emissions from natural gas operations decreased due to the closure of the Camden Gas Project in August 2024 and the sale of the Silver Springs facility in April 2025.
FY23 | FY24 | FY25 | |
|---|---|---|---|
Fugitive emissions from mining brown coal at AGL Loy Yang (ktCO2e) | 7.7 | 8.5 | 7.8 |
Fugitive emissions from natural gas operations (ktCO2e) | 50.0 | 51.6 | 39.6 |
FY25 data was updated in November 2025. Data was not available at the time of the initial release of the FY25 Data Centre on 13 August 2025. |
Data includes all fugitive emissions within AGL's operated boundary, by facility type. Operational control is as defined by the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act 2007. |
Fugitive emissions from natural gas operations includes gas venting, gas flaring and fugitive leaks from equipment and pipelines at AGL's operated natural gas production, processing or storage facilities. |
Greenhouse gas emissions have been calculated in accordance with the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) Scheme. |
Quantities have been rounded to the nearest 100 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (100 tCO2e). |
