Operational greenhouse gas footprint (by activity type)
Emissions from coal-fired generation decreased in FY25, driven by a reduction in generation from Loy Yang A Power Station due to the planned Unit 4 major outage. The increase in gas-fired generation emissions in FY25 resulted primarily from AEMO-directed operation of Torrens Island Power Station. The reduction in emissions from gas operations in FY25 was due to the closure of Camden Gas Project and the sale of the Silver Springs facility. The increase in emissions from electricity storage in FY25 was due to Broken Hill Battery commencing operations (predominantly Scope 2 emissions).
FY25 data was updated in November 2025. Data was not available at the time of the initial release of the FY25 Data Centre on 13 August 2025. |
These figures include Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions for facilities which AGL had operational control over during the period, regardless of who owns the asset. Assets where AGL controls or has rights to the electricity output only are not included. |

In FY23, AGL implemented changes to our fugitive emissions calculations for natural gas production and storage facilities to align with updated regulations under the NGER Act. |
